Setting: a party at Fedora's house, Paris, France, late 19th century
Synopsis: Fedora has found out that Count Loris killed her fiance and swears to avenge his death. As the first step in her plan to capture Loris, she goes to Paris and attempts to get him to fall in love with her. After he tells her of his love for her, she tries to get him to confess of the murder. Eventually, he does confess but then says that he killed him in revenge. Fedora's fiance had seduced Loris's wife and when he caught the two of them together, Fedora's fiance shot him and Loris had to shoot back in self-defense, unintentionally striking him a mortal wound.
