Da Gusman, su fragil barca, Alzira's aria from Alzira

Da Gusman, su fragil barca,
io fuggia, dell'onde in grembo....
Ma terribil sorse il nembo,
e sconvolse cielo e mar.
Di terror, d'affanno carca
io chiedea soccorso invano...
La sua preda l'oceàno
è già presso ad ingopiar,
quando, in sen d'un'ombra errante,
frà le nubi son levata.
In quell'ombra, o me beata!
Io ravviso il mio tesor!
L'universo, in quell'istante,
mi sembrò d'amor vestito...
Fin del turbine il ruggito
voce parve a me d'amor!
