Ich sah die Städte, sah das Land,
ich zog entlang des Meeres Strand;
so weit das Land der Römer reicht,
trug mich mein Fuß beschwingt und leicht.
Und Frieden fand ich überall,
froh tönt des Jubels Widerhall.
Frei treibt der Hirt die Herde hin,
reich prangt der Felder Fruchtgewinn.
Der Burgen Wälle stürzen ein,
denn frei will jeder Römer sein.
