Setting: A large hall in the palace of the Bey of Algiers, Algeria, early 19th century
Synopsis: Isabella has been captured by the Bey of Algiers and Lindoro is being forced to marry the Bey's current wife in order to let the Bey have Isabella. Even though their situation seems hopeless, they manage to be alone for enough time to plan an escape. Afterwards, Lindoro sings to her, telling her that now that she is here, he has found happiness again from his grief.
