Setting: a room in the Tsar's chambers in the Kremlin, Moscow, Russia, 1603
Synopsis: Boris pours out his thoughts to his son. He is now in his sixth year of rule with all the power he ever dreamed about but he is not happy. He is upset that his daughter's fiance died before the wedding. He is also upset that he was not able to alleviate some of the suffering and discontent that rages through his kingdom. Finally, he is regretful that the route to the throne was won by the death of the previous Tsar's child half-brother Dmitri.
