Some reasons why your search may not be returning any matches :

• You may have spelled part of your search terms incorrectly. If you aren't sure on a word, try your search again with only the part of the search that you are sure is correct. You can also broaden your search by entering less terms. For instance, if you are searching for a specific aria from an opera, you can enter just the opera name and then look through the list of arias that is left.
• You may have selected the wrong database. Make sure that you selected the Aria Database if you want to search for arias and the Operatic Role Database if you want to search for operatic roles. Likewise, select the Ensemble Database if you only want to find ensembles.
• You may have entered your search term in the wrong search blank. For instance, if you wanted to find arias from "Tosca", you may have entered "Tosca" in the Aria search blank instead of the Opera search blank.
• You may need to simplify your search. Complicated searches tend to return more exact answers but they often also return nothing because a slight error can nullify the whole search. Try searching with less search blanks or less Boolean expressions
• The aria or role you are looking for may not be in the Database. The databases on this website are and will continue to be works-in-progress. Therefore, every opera ever written is not on the Database. In fact, there may even be glaring omissions. If you feel that something should be on this Database that isn't, please let me know and I'll try to do something about it. Please check our lists of operas, ensembles, operatic roles first to make sure what you are looking for is truly not on the Database.
