Synopsis: The Fisherman sings of the beauty of the night and the ocean and of his love for fishing. However, he forgets them all when he hears the song of the nightingale that entrances him every night. Even now, he sits and waits to hear her song.

Porté au vent, tombant au loin, 
prends, mon filet, de beaux poissons, 
Dans ton réseau les poissons scintillants.
Ah! que le vent est bon pêcheur.
Pâle brille au ciel la lune.
L'onde calme est endormie.
Et proche est l'aurore.
Mais point de rossignol,
Quand d'habitude chaque nuit
il est venu, il chante
emplit l'ombre des bois 
d'un chant mélodieux!
Ah! bien souvent je l'écoutai,
Oubliant mes filet et mes tracs sans nombre.
L'esprit du ciel leur donne voix
leur donne un océan nouveau.
Tous sont changés en gais oiseaux,
Le vent leur donne ailes et voix.
Pâle brille au ciel la lune.
L'onde calme est endormie.
